Languages

Speak any of 17 languages. Caption it in English.

Pick the language spoken in your video when you upload it. Captionr writes down the words, translates them into English and times every caption to the moment they are said. Each language is listed in English and in its own script, so you spot yours at a glance.

The languages you can pick

Every language gives you the same two caption files, one in the language spoken and one in English, both timed to the words. A few work a little differently, and say so below.

  • Arabicالعربية

Six dialects: Levantine, Egyptian, Gulf, Iraqi, Maghrebi and Modern Standard Arabic. Dialect words are kept as spoken, not rewritten into formal Arabic. Arabic to English subtitles

  • Chinese (Traditional)繁體中文

Captions are written in Traditional characters.

  • English

You get English captions of what is said, in one file. Nothing is translated.

How to pick the language

  1. 1

    Pick it when you upload

Under Language spoken in the video, choose the language people speak in your video. Arabic is chosen for you. For Arabic, pick the dialect under Dialect too, or leave it at Not sure and we work it out from the speech.

  2. 2

    Not sure? Let us listen

Choose Detect automatically only if you do not know the language. We listen to the start of the video, so one that opens with music or another language can be detected wrongly. Picking the language gives better captions.

  3. 3

    Change it until you pay

Picked the wrong one? Open the video and select Edit in the Language panel. This works until you pay; after that the language is fixed.

Questions about languages

Which languages can I caption into?

English today, plus captions in the language spoken in the video. More target languages are planned.

People in my video switch to English. What happens?

Pick the language most of the video is in. Lines spoken in English are detected and kept in English in both caption files, including the translation.

My video is in English. Do I still get captions?

Yes. Pick English and you get English captions of what is said, timed to every word, in one file. Nothing is translated.

My language is not in the list.

We only offer languages our speech recognition handles well enough for captions, so some, such as Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo, are not offered yet. Email support@incluve.me to ask for one.

Can I fix a caption in my language, not only in English?

Yes. Select Review captions on the video page: the spoken language and the English sit side by side, and you can fix any line in either. A spoken line you fix is translated again, so the English matches. Read the review guide

Does every language cost the same?

Yes: $0.15 per minute of video, rounded up to the next whole minute, with a $2.00 minimum, whatever the language. You see the price before you pay. See pricing
