Who this page is for

Captionr is made by Incluve, LLC. This page explains how to delete your Captionr account, whether you use the Captionr app on iPhone or Android or the website, what is removed when you do, and the little that is kept.

How to delete your account

In the Captionr app: open Account, select Delete account and confirm. Your account is deleted at once. The only time the app refuses is while one of your videos is still being captioned; wait for it to finish, or delete that video first, then try again.

By email: write to support@incluve.me from the address you sign in with and say that you want your account deleted. We delete it within 30 days of your message and confirm by email when it is done. If you signed in with Apple using Hide My Email, write from any address and tell us the name on the account.

You do not need to delete your videos first. Deleting the account removes them.

What is deleted

Your account record: your name, email address, profile photo, display name and workspace name, and the sign-in record held for you at Google Firebase. If you signed in with Apple, we also withdraw the Sign in with Apple authorisation.

Every video in your account, with its uploaded file, the audio taken from it, the still image, the transcript, the translations, the captions and every fix you made to them, including archived videos.

The device records that let the app send you notifications, and your technical logs as they expire: logs that mention your account are gone within 30 days.

What is kept, and for how long

Payment records: the date, the amount, the minutes billed and the payment reference from Stripe, the App Store or Google Play. They are accounting records and are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, seven years in the United States, with your name and email address removed so they no longer identify you.

Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play also appear in your Apple or Google account's own purchase history. Those are Apple's and Google's records, and only they can remove them.

Deleting videos without closing your account

You can delete any video and its captions at any time from your Videos page or the video page. Even if you do nothing, the uploaded file is deleted 3 days after your captions are ready, its audio after 15 days, and the transcript, captions and still image after 90 days, as the privacy policy explains.
