Download your captions

Who this guide is for

Creators whose captions are ready and who want caption files to add to their video.

Prerequisites

  • A paid video whose status is Ready to review or Done.

Step-by-step instructions

Where to find it: Videos › <video title>

Download a caption file

  1. Select Videos in the app menu, then select your video. The page says Your captions are ready.
  2. Find the captions you want:
    • English captions: the translation.
    • Arabic captions (original), or the name of your video's language: what was said, in the original language.
  3. Select SRT or VTT next to it. The button shows Preparing, then the file downloads.

Add the file to your video

  1. On YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook, open your video's subtitles or captions settings and upload the file.
  2. In an editing app, import the file as subtitles or captions.

Important: Lines spoken in English stay in English in every file, including the translation. That is on purpose.

Expected result

A caption file named after your video and its language, for example Maqluba.en.srt, is in your downloads folder.

Common questions / troubleshooting

SRT or VTT? Both work on YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook. Choose SRT for most editing apps and VTT for a video player on your own website.

The download did not start. Read the message on the page and try again. If your captions are not ready yet, wait until the status is Ready to review.

Can I fix a line before downloading? The caption editor is being added. Until then, edit the downloaded file in a text editor or your editing app.
